GovTech Innovators: Travis Pearl, Co-Founder of MeritShare

January 22, 2013 By

Our latest GovTech Innovator is Travis Pearl, one of the founders of MeritShare, a company that helps managers find innovative ways to recognize their employees for good work performance.

MeritShare allows managers to share employee accomplishments beyond the employee's office -- by using social media to publish awards and news to a broader audience. The idea is that workers will feel better about themselves and their accomplishments if the information spreads beyond their work environment.

And the company’s service may be coming at just the right time, too. According to a 2011 Globoforce Survey, more than 65 percent of employees are dissatisfied with the level of recognition received for their work.

Pearl spoke about his company’s goals and why modern workplaces aren’t always generous with praise for the people who work for them.
