If you’re like most public-sector employees, you don’t have much time for watching videos. I took that into consideration and tried out a new format for this video – “GovGirl’s Trending Topics” – quickly covering top stories in government innovation.
We start off talking about the tiny city in Texas that entered a sweepstakes and won a new tech center full of tablets, voting technology and more. If that story gets you motivated, I mention a contest where you can win part of $5 MILLION – the Knight Foundation’s OpenGov News Challenge!
Other hot topics include the City of Bell’s awesome transparency turnaround, and Gavin Newsom’s new book, Citizenville.

Like the GovGirl format. It gives a quick and concise rundown of current events. Different and refreshing. I would look forward to hearing about the events of the day. I would still like to have available links for the stories so I could gain more information. Thanks GovGirl, Great job!!!
Like the new format
I like the new format...very concise and imformative. It would be good to add some explosions every now and then. Well done!
The new format is great, but I will say, the T.O.C. is a little small- if you could make the font a little bolder, it would be awesome!
I find this update useful. I like Kristy's presentation style, also. Hope she will continue with the updates.

I enjoyed this format. I hope though that that other style is going to continue. I have shared govgirl with my boss as a good place to get government information.
Love the new format for quick news, but plz keep your special segments interviewing others too. Both are great! And yes the explosions from Vine are a nice addition. Maybe sneak in a news item not mentioned in the daily GovTech messages so we have to come and find them exclusively in the video? A GovGirl treasure hunt.
Wow, I sure appreciate the feedback! What I'm hearing (here, on Twitter & Facebook) is that people like the new format, but there still needs to be a place for interviews and how-to segments as well. I hear you and I agree. Katherine, I'll make the text bigger and I'll add some 'splosions once in awhile for Phil.
