Prepare a Zombie Survival Kit

January 2, 2013 By

Ever since the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) launched their creative "zombie apocalypse" campaign last year, Americans have been even more exposed to the recommendation of making a survival kit for any disaster.

I explore my own "go bag" in this video to see if I have all of the recommended supplies by the CDC. What's in your own kit? Are you equipped to survive any disaster?

Don't forget a solar powered DVD player and as many GovGirl episodes as you can carry!

Excellent video on being prepared! we have a kit in our home with many of those same items...except the eyebrow brush/comb. The Zombie issue is more difficult...if you can't beat them, join them? Nah, Zombies don't have as much fun!

Loved it! Hope you are feeling better from your Zombie Flu!

It would be great if you could just include a transcript to the video. While youtube video's are ubiquitous, many times videos don't transport well --- if i'm mobile then i'm not messing around with playing it on my phone (i'm not digging out my earbuds for this), and if i'm at work then i'm not playing a youtube video. A lot of online news and related outlets are relying too heavily on video, IMO. Sure, I'll click on the link, but as soon as I see the video box pop up, I'm out of there. If what you wanted was my page hit, you got it. If you wanted me to consume your message, you missed it.

You have your nice little multitool and I have mine. As a computer tech, I regulary carry the Gerber Multi-Plier Scout on my belt. Also, you might want to take a look at http://www.twit.tv/twiet watch episode 22 as they have all kinds of gadgets for surviving the zombie apocalypse including things for cooking, solar power, and cleaning electricity.

Love all the feedback on this video! @Jody, Zombie Flu is no fun, but great term to coin! I'll have to check out the gadgets mentioned by @Tom. @Phil, if I get bitten, I'm going to be dedicated to being the baddest Zombie out there. Or, maybe just the zombie comedy relief sidekick - that would work, too. One thing I forgot to note in the video - have extra survival kits (for any disaster, really) at your work and in your car as well. You never know where you'll be when you need it!

Just a correction: You would light tinder from a firestarter spark, which in turn would light the kindling. Experience learned from many years in the Boy Scout program!

Thanks for the info, Rev. Kent!
