Two government superstars teamed up to author a step-by-step book for public agencies on how to effectively use social media. This "field guide" is the work of Ines Mergel, assistant professor of public administration at Syracuse University, and Bill Greeves, CIO of Wake County, N.C. (who recently topped the list of "most social government CIOs" by Public CIO magazine).
This video takes a quick look at Social Media in the Public Sector Field Guide: Designing and Implementing Strategies and Policies and why it's the perfect stocking stuffer for any public sector employee. The book was published this November and can be found through major book retailers.

Just felt a need to share I cannot get past the name of this newsletter. I must not be in the target market! I am old enough to remember when all females in the office were referred to as "the girl" and cannot embrace this!
Thanks for your comment, Joan. GovGirl is a self-proclaimed name that I gave myself a year and a half ago. I wanted a web address simple for people to remember, and I thought it sounded more like a superhero than an unfortunate office label. I also want to be thought of as a girl for as long as I can get away with it! GovWoman doesn't have the same ring... This is an interesting discussion and I'd love to hear what people think about the name.
I'm probably at least as old, but it's time for us all to move on. Call yourself what you like.
Someone in my office just sent me this link as we are working on incorporating social media in government. Great website and I think Govgirl is very catchy and easy to remember - you go girl !!!
