Napa Valley's Sixth Annual Computers and Electronics Recycling Event Collects More Than 179 Tons of e-Waste

Jul 10, 2006, News Report

The city and county of Napa, Calif., and its residents held a two-day event last month that rounded up more than 179 tons of unwanted computer monitors, televisions, cell phones and other electronic junk.

Partnering with Electronic Recyclers, the Fresno recycler of electronic waste, the city of Napa announced this week its total numbers for the free countywide public collection event, staged at the Napa Valley College parking lot on June 9th and 10th. The event, which was the sixth annual function of its kind in the Napa region, resulted in the collection of 359,217 pounds of electronic waste, the most electronic waste collected per capita at a single location event in the state this year.

Within the course of two days, hundreds of Napa area residents, businesses and students arrived at the collection site with their unwanted and/or non-functioning computer monitors, computers, printers, TVs and other electronic waste.
