Internet Cameras Provide Real-Time Traffic Conditions to Tallahassee Commuters

Tallahassee, Florida recently installed four cameras on I-10 to provide commuters with real-time online video of traffic conditions along the I-10 corridor between Thomasville Road and Capital Circle NW. This project was funded by the Florida Department of Transportation as part of the I-10 expansion projects. The cameras allow birds-eye views of key interstate construction areas, including I-10 interchanges at Capital Circle Northwest, Monroe Street and Thomasville Road, as well as from the Meridian Road bridge over the interstate.

City and state officials indicate that commuters who regularly travel I-10 can check the Web site before leaving for their drive and see streaming video of traffic conditions. This will provide current information about accidents or other delays.

To view real-time camera footage, please visit Talgov.com and access the City's Driver Information System under the E-Services section or visit the I-10 Expansion Project Web site at www.movingi-10forward.com and select the LIVE CAMERAS tab. To view the cameras, please make sure you have enabled cookies in your browser. If you still experience problems, call the City of Tallahassee's Traffic Engineering Department at 891-8261.

In addition to the real-time I-10 traffic cameras, the Tallahassee Driver Information System provides access to the Tallahassee Advanced Transportation Management System, which provides views from cameras at 86 intersections around town - with photos updated every two minutes. The site also provides maps that let commuters view congested areas, road maintenance sites and traffic incidents.

All these tools work together to provide Tallahassee drivers the most up-to-date traffic information to help motorists make informed decisions as to which route will make their trip through town a little smoother.
