Federal GSA Administrator Lurita Doan on Wednesday announced Casey Coleman -- acting CIO since June -- will serve as the Chief Information Officer for the agency.

"Casey Coleman is the right person to fill this crucial position for GSA," Doan said. "The skills Casey demonstrated at the Federal Acquisition Service (FAS) give me great confidence she will be able to help the Office of the CIO meet its many challenges, including reducing the cost and improving the quality of government services and reducing technology risk."

Before becoming acting agency CIO, Coleman played a key management role at FAS as chief information officer. In that position, she was responsible for the delivery of information technology, management services and business applications to support FAS, the new GSA organization formed by the combination of the former Federal Technology Service (FTS) and Federal Supply Services.

Before that, she served for two years as the FTS CIO and also headed the GSA Office of Citizen Services from 2002-2004. JB
