Accela Wireless is a .NET mobile government application that allows the city's staff of 40 field inspectors to shift daily tasks from the office to the field. Using portable laptops loaded with Accela Wireless, inspectors can remotely access permit-related data, complete inspections, create correction notices, and process sign-offs. Updates can be uploaded to the agency database in real time where wireless connectivity is available, or saved to the portable laptops to be uploaded when the inspector returns to the office.
"This award acknowledges Sacramento's leadership in implementing a mobile e-government solution that provides so many benefits to the people it serves," stated Maury Blackman, Accela's president and CEO. "By streamlining processes and giving city inspection staff convenient access to enterprise data, agencies are able to respond more quickly to requests and provide a higher level of service to citizens."
Accela Wireless is being utilized by the Development Services Department, which administers the city's planning, building and development engineering functions. The application is supported by Accela Automation, a Web-based solution that can be used agency-wide to automate permitting, inspections, workflow, project management, plan review, code enforcement, and other critical functions.
"Accela Wireless has enabled our staff to increase efficiency and better serve our customers by enabling our staff to communicate in the field," said director of development William Thomas. "This is just one initiative of several e-government solutions we are working on to increase the department's transparency and benefit to our customers and our citizens. We appreciate the support Accela has provided in achieving these measures."
