As part of National Preparedness Month, 50 Youth Preparedness Delegates graduated from Be Ready Camp, an educational experience for sixth graders focused on building preparedness skills for natural and man-made disasters. During a full-scale disaster exercise, the delegates assumed the role of public safety professionals. The curriculum introduces survival and first aid, disaster psychology and terrorism awareness, as well as how to create a family disaster plan and kit. Alabama Homeland Security Director Jim Walker describes the program as a "responsible investment in the future leadership of our state." Read more at Ready.gov.
