FEMA took several steps to prepare its response to West Coast storms: activating the Regional Response Coordination Center, deploying disaster response experts, and alerting Emergency Support Functions teams. FEMA is now, with state and local officials, assessing damage, particularly from the canal breach in Fernley, Nev.
Nevada Governor Jim Gibbons said, "Helping the people impacted by this disaster is our top priority. We are seeing outstanding cooperation from emergency responders at all levels of government and the private sector." " More at FEMA.gov
