Mar 25, 2008, News Report
President Bush declared a major disaster in Missouri and ordered federal aid to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the area struck by severe storms and flooding beginning this week and continuing. FEMA is supporting the immediate response to these floods, and the U.S. Coast Guard is assisting with search and rescue missions.
More danger from flooding-compounded by record rainfall and melting snow-may occur as many rivers crest well above flood stage in the next days. Other FEMA regional response coordination centers in surrounding states have been activated. More at FEMA.gov.
