Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC) Vice Chairman John C. Lee, IV and NVTC Senior Advisory Board Member Len Pomata have been appointed to serve on Virginia's IT Investment Board to oversee and direct the state's information technology restructuring effort.
"NVTC is honored that two of our board members have been selected to play such a vital role in the restructuring of the commonwealth's IT procedures and policies," said NVTC President Bobbie Kilberg. "Len and John are leaders in the Northern Virginia high tech community and they will be an asset to VITA."
The Oversight Board will set the direction for the newly formed Virginia Information Technologies Agency, (VITA) which was established this past year through IT restructuring.
The VITA legislation mandates the consolidation of IT services for 94 executive-branch agencies within the commonwealth and charges the IT Investment Board with reviewing and prioritizing enterprise-wide technology investments across state government. Virginia Secretary of Technology George Newstrom will serve as a voting, ex-officio member of the Board. Now that it is constituted, Virginia's IT Board will begin review and prioritize technology investments and appoint a CIO to serve as VITA's de facto executive director.
