A Nevada bill would allow inmates to have and use Internet access under certain conditions. AB34 would allow inmates to access the Internet for "authorized lawful purposes" including:

  • Exchanging e-mail with authorized persons
  • Videoconference visitations
  • Videoconferenced hearings with the State Board of Parole Commissioners
  • Video arraignment
  • Telemedicine
  • Law library access
  • Online education programs
  • Purchase of certain items
  • File transfers

The bill also expands monitoring of inmate communication when using an electronic device.

It would have to be so incredibly supervised that snail mail would be faster and less expensive. The few times that I have run across this it was badly abused.
