Drinking Water From the Air

High humidity -- whether from showering, cooking or naturally moist air -- can make summers sticky and winters damp and cold. Atmospheric Water Systems (AWS) has devised a system that converts atmospheric moisture in homes or offices into three to eight gallons per day of purified drinking water. The units chill the air to extract the moisture, then filter and purify it. The units consume about 9 to 10 kilowatt hours a day in electricity, according to the company.
