PacStar has entered into an agreement with iMove, Inc. to customize and deliver intelligent, ruggedized deployment cases enabling iMove to create deployable wide-area persistent surveillance solutions for Department of Defense and intelligence community (IC) force protection missions.

PacStar is supplying its patent pending networking/ communications deployment technology called IQ-Core Case which consists of microprocessor-controlled, cooled, modular, ruggedized transit cases. These cases enable networking/ communications manufacturers to quickly create field-ready versions of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) equipment that meet military standards for transport, shock and high operating temperatures.

PacStar is collaborating with iMove to co-develop a complete, integrated solution based on IBM, Cisco and Coraid networking, application serving and storage equipment providing high performance computing in difficult environments.

The IQ-Core Case is designed to allow PacStar to work with manufacturers and integrators to help them create or improve both new and legacy, deployable networking and communications equipment.

"We looked at a number of options to solve our deployable needs, and determined that PacStar IQ-Core Case technologies were a generation ahead of any available technology, providing great benefits to our customer," said Ed Rissberger, vice-president of engineering for iMove. "With PacStar IQ-Core Case, we can deploy our fully immersive wide-area video surveillance solutions to environments that were previously too harsh to serve."

The patent-pending PacStar IQ-Core Case technologies were developed to enable PacStar to quickly create durable solutions for networking/computing/communications challenges for Military, Emergency Responder, and Enterprise customers. IQ-Core Case technologies enable PacStar to ruggedize and deploy any type of
networking/c omputing/ communications equipment such as routers, switches, servers, proxies, firewalls, PBXs, WAN, LAN, Satellite, LMR and wireless equipment, with a minimum of customization.

The IQ-Core Case provides patent-pending high-velocity air-cooling, along with MIL-STD 810F transport ratings, ensuring that COTS equipment designed for data-center use can be deployed in difficult environments. IQ-Core Case is compatible with standard rack-mounted equipment up to 4U, as well as compatible with desktop and small-form- factor equipment.

With on-board microprocessors, the IQ-Core Case provides standalone, intelligent equipment monitoring for temperature and operation. IQ-Core Case provides remote power reset support for each device, as well as remote/ programmable control over the case display, using an industry-standard Web Services-based software interface. Partnered with the PacStar industry-leading IQ-Core Software, IQ-Core Case can provide extensive, wizard-driven control over deployable equipment, enabling non-technical users to perform extensive network management in the field.
