Rhode Island Secretary of State A. Ralph Mollis yesterday announced that the public now has wireless Internet access to public records in the State Library.

"Greater access to public information leads to more open and honest government," Mollis stated. "Wireless Internet in the State Library will make it quicker, easier and more convenient for Rhode Islanders to search for state records and information."

Rhode Islanders have the opportunity to bring their laptop computers to the State Library in the State House and use the Library's wireless system to locate public records, lobbyist filings, legislative information and other key online government resources.

The State Library is the only public location in the State House with wireless access. Mollis plans to bring wireless access to the Secretary of State's Public Information Department also located in the State House.
