It is good to see that Kentucky may catch up with other states with broadband deployment. In Nebraska we have had broadband access available to 99.9 % of all citizens living within the city limits of all 532 communities since about 2003. We have had broadband access available in 62 of the 66 unincorporated communities since about 2004. Including all farmers and ranchers we have had broadband access available to 96% of all citizens since 2003 - - this includes tens of thousands of square miles of ranch land where the homes are anywhere from 20 to 50 miles apart. All of this access in is addition to satellite access that also covers the entire state. We are approaching having fiber to within 1 1/2 to two miles of a majority of all farmers and ranchers. All of this at the initiative of mostly the independent telephone companies serving their areas as well as the areas where Qwest and other larger companies operate. No special program was needed.
