New York City Metropolitan Transportation Authority Signs Computer Operations Contract

IBM has signed a contract with the New York City Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) for the company to manage the authority's computing resources. The company will manage the transportation authority's computer operations including its fare collection system; the massive database that keeps track of the parts for subways, buses and other equipment; and the applications that oversee crew schedules, procurement, contracts; and many other tasks.
