Mississippi Highway Patrol to Expand Wireless Mobile Data System

The Mississippi Highway Patrol awarded Electronic Systems Technology Inc. a $210,000 order for 100 additional wireless modems for vehicle applications that are expected to be installed in the next six months.

Ohio Awards $45 Million for Electronic Benefits Transfer Services

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services awarded Affiliated Computer Services Inc. a contract to provide electronic benefits transfer (EBT) services for food stamp benefits. Ohio is converting from an offline smart card program to a new online magnetic stripe program. ACS will convert all EBT clients by April 2006.

The contract is for eight years and is valued at approximately $45 million. The contract provides EBT transaction processing, project management, retailer management for merchants, a data center, a call center, as well as card reconciliation and settlement.

Colorado Extends Child Health Program

The Colorado's Department of Health Care Policy and Financing awarded Affiliated Computer Services Inc. a $3.8 million one-year contract extension for the Child Health Plan Plus (CHP+) program.

ACS will provide multilingual call center services to providers and members who need information about CHP+ application and eligibility processes. ACS will also process CHP+ applications, determine eligibility, collect premium payments, manage complaints and appeals processes, handle correspondence, and administer a website for the CHP+ program.

Kentucky Homeland Security Contracts

BIO-key International Inc. was awarded a contract to outfit public safety vehicles in Richmond, Kentucky and surrounding agencies with its wireless mobile data solutions. The contract also provides for the integration of BIO-key's mobile products with the county's computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems and an in-vehicle mapping system.

The Kentucky State Police (KSP) will serve as the host for the county-wide deployment. In an initiative to extend secure, interoperable communications between the state and other local agencies, KSP has agreed to host any department that wishes to deploy the BIO-key mobile data system. Departments choosing to participate with KSP will benefit from having interoperable and secure communications between each other and the State Police.

Texas Awards RFID Contract For New Tolling Projects

The Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) has selected TransCore's eGo Plus radio frequency identification (RFID) technology for the Central Texas Turnpike Program, a $2 billion transportation initiative.

The multimillion-dollar contract allows for the initial release of 500,000 RFID tags, with a total of 2 million tags over two years.

Social Security Administration Awards $124 Million IT Contract

The U.S. Social Security Administration selected Lockheed Martin to provide information technology services under the agency's Electronic Disability (eDib) Initiative National Scanning Project.

Lockheed Martin will provide services that include scanning paper medical and non-medical records and creating digital images for transmission. The images are sent to an electronic folder that is part of the SSA's Document Management Architecture.

In addition to performing management operations near SSA headquarters in Baltimore, Md., Lockheed Martin will establish and staff three scanning centers to support the SSA offices in the 50
