EUGENE, Ore. -- The Lane County Sheriff's Office said it will soon begin deploying a new corrections-management system that will allow the county's corrections, police and justice agencies to capture, update or view jail and offender data.

The county signed a deal with Motorola for the company's Offendertrak corrections-management system. County officials said the company helped with the conversion of almost 600,000 existing inmate records, staff training and full acceptance testing.

"The Offendertrak system represents the future of corrections management and provides our agency with a centralized repository for inmate information," said Lieutenant Mark Graham, Lane County Sheriff's Office. "We needed an information management system that was robust, scalable for small or large facilities and designed to evolve with changing procedures or new requirements."

The county's new system will allow public access to photos of arraigned suspects and offenders and will provide a link to the Statewide Victim Notification System, making it possible for immediate notification to be sent to victims by a live operator before offenders are released.

Officials said the system will also help the county electronically convert, manage and update approximately 90,000 paper communications annually, including inmate reports, forms and assessments.

The system is the first phase of a $10.5 million interagency information conversion, officials said, and is part of the Area Information Records System (AIRS), an automated information system that serves a regional consortium of local public safety and justice agencies.

The entire AIRS conversion project will be completed over the course of several years and will include multi-jurisdictional law enforcement records, computer-aided dispatch, local courts and the additions of mobile field reporting and fire/ EMS records management.
