The Android Boom? (INFOGRAPHIC)

New statistics reveal that there are more than four times more Android devices activated each day than there are babies born.

According to a new infographic from app performance company New Relic, there are 1.3 million Android devices activated each day -- more than four times the number of babies born. The estimate that there will be 1.82 billion smartphones in the world in 2013 then, though a staggering figure, likely surprises very few tech enthusiasts.

The average person checks their smartphone 150 times each day, going online and interacting with an average of 41 apps. There are, after all, 1.5 million apps available in the Apple App store and the Google Play store. But developing the next must-have app is an art form few have mastered. As an example, the infographic claims that more than 60 percent of the apps available from Apple have not registered a single download.

Check out the infographic below for more stats on apps and the move to mobile.
