Cost-effective, durable laptops help Sheriff’s Office detectives solve cases faster.
Abstract:
Will County, Ill., is one of the nation’s fastest growing counties. Based in Joliet — about 45 minutes outside of Chicago — the county has nearly 700,000 residents after a 35 percent increase in population over the last 10 years. Several factors have led to the growth, including the city’s thriving
economy, proximity to Chicago and family-friendly suburban environment.
Rapid growth always provides special challenges for public safety agencies, which are already facing budget issues and the constant need to provide services in the most cost-efficient manner. The Will County Sheriff’s Office is responding to these challenges by leveraging technology for greater efficiency.
For its Investigations division, the Sheriff’s Office recently purchased 19 Lenovo laptops with 2nd
Generation Intel Core processor technology, provided by CDWG. Josh Fazio, a detective in the High Tech Crimes unit at the Sheriff’s Office, said there were three key reasons the detectives chose Lenovo: “durability, the number of features that come standard with the laptop and cost.”
