New environment provides security and efficiency
Steve Whittekiend, IT director of Washington City, Utah, saw an opportunity for change back in 2005 when Microsoft announced Windows Vista was to replace XP.
“I saw the preview of Vista and thought it was completely different than XP in many ways,” said Whittekiend. “So why not consider all of the other options right now?”
Whittekiend decided to take Washington City in a different direction when he transformed the city’s enterprise computing systems from Windows to Apple. In doing so, he reduced the city’s costs associated with maintaining and repairing IT assets. The Apple environment also improved the city’s security by eliminating the malware threats that target PCs.
