Despite the country’s ongoing economic troubles in the wake of the Great Recession and the ongoing clamor in certain political circles over the need for large-scale debt reduction, the federal government is still very much in the business of subsidizing research, innovation, and implementation of new technologies and programs designed to serve the public and improve the human condition. Many federal grants offered are intended for use by local governments, most of which have been especially hard-hit by the recession. This grants guide, sponsored by CDW•G, provides a list of grants available to local government entities by vertical, along with additional information and directions on how prospective applicants can attain more detail and maximize their chances of being awarded a particular grant. Many of the grants emphasize research and investment into new information technologies and other technological innovations.
