A recent issue of NaCO County News reported that Congress may soon pass legislation that would provide $100 million in funding for grants and loans up to $1 million to counties that have health and safety emergencies because of Y2K failures come Jan. 1. Sen. Christopher Dodd (D-Conn) co-sponsored the funding with Sen. Robert Bennett (R-Utah). The funding measure has been included in a Veterans Affair-Housing and Urban Development Appropriation bill that the Senate passed. The House is expected to the pass the amendment.
