The Internet of Things (IoT) will drive the collection of an even wider set of data through devices and sensors that can be connected and networked in real time. With less than 1% of all of the potential devices connected today, it stands to reason that as more of these devices come online, data streams will continue to drive even greater increases in the information to be processed. By 2020 the number of connected devices is expected to reach 50 billion, bringing a massive increase in the amount of data that needs to be handled and accessed securely.
