IT-as-a-Service in State and Local Government

State governments across the nation have been facing the same situations since the recession began – a combination of budgetary challenges and calls for assistance from state agencies, local jurisdictions and the public. There is the need to increase services and modernize systems and processes, but the start-up money just isn’t there.

An evolutionary new computing model which combines technologies and strategies such as consolidation, virtualization and cloud computing is surfacing and beginning to bring the needed change to government. This new IT-as-a-Service model is reducing costs, increasing flexibility and improving services for all involved. This white paper discusses the IT-as-a-Service model by sharing stories of states who have successfully implemented it and led the way to a more effectively run government.
