Telework 360

The Ohio SchoolNet Commission Telecommunity Policy and Oversight Committee recommended the approval of three new Telecommunity grants and additional funding for one existing Telecommunity project. The Ohio Historical Society and the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History were approved to receive $100,000 for their archaeology project, "Dig Ohio." The grant will allow Ohio schools to have access to the Web site of the Natural History Museum free for one year, electronic field trips at a reduced rate provided through the Natural Partners project and a wealth of other resources at both the Ohio Historical Society and other Natural Partners.

The Cleveland Museum of Art also received a $465,192 grant to support the expansion of its distance education program. They plan to co-develop content with elementary to secondary teachers and to create student learning kits for student participation in online learning activities.

More information on grant recipients can be found by reading the Disance Learning Newsletter for September.
