The virus initially hit computers and servers used by the Water Bureau's billing staff and the Revenue Bureau, which use the Cayenta billing system. The city's Bureau of Technology Services ran a scan of about 6,000 city computers and servers left on overnight, not just those in the water and revenue bureaus.
"On all servers and workstations where the scan has completed, it appears the scan has successfully eradicated the virus," the city's technology division wrote to employees in an email this morning. "There has been no destruction of data seen so far as a result of the virus."
Abby Coppock, a spokeswoman for the Office of Management & Finance, said no personal information or data were impacted.
