Google Maps' Street View shows 360-degree views of city streets. Some images capture unsuspecting city residents in unflattering situations - a man picking his nose on a street corner, Stanford students sunbathing on campus clad in bikinis - sparking privacy concerns.

Google, however, contends that the imagery reflects what any person can see walking down the street. U.S. law imposes relatively few restrictions on photographing people unless they're in private places, away from public viewing, according to the Legal Handbook for Photographers: The Rights and Liabilities of Making Images by Bert P. Krages.
