How many Americans have their identity stolen each year?

Answer: 1 in 10

That equals as many as 10 million Americans, which is the entire population of North Carolina. And according to shoeboxed.com, it takes, on average, 33 hours for a person to resolve identity theft issues.

Is it just me or does the math on that not add up?

Maybe someone should tell CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) to start encrypting SSN on Medicare Health cards (Part A & Part B). Let's see, for identity safety we are told not to carry our SSN card with us. But millions of Medicare recipients are told to carry their card with them at all times, exposing their full SSN on their Medicare cards...duh!
