Last February, Kenya announced its National Cybersecurity Strategy and Master Plan. Intended to position the country for more a proactive cybersecurity stance, the plan will provide guidance for both the government and the private sector. According to AllAfrica.com, the move should help increase consumer confidence in electronic transactions, setting the stage for increased e-government services.
Kenya's cybersecurity strategy was mentioned by Microsoft Technical Fellow and author Mark Russinovich at the company's U.S. Public Sector CIO Summit last week, as evidence of the pervasiveness of cyberthreats.
"That really shows you just how far-reaching cyber has gotten in terms of governments thinking about first of all, how they have to play in this space ... and how they defend themselves against it," Russinovich said.
