Why in the very near future might it be commonplace to spot a facial recognition camera above the front door of your favorite bar?

Answer: To help you find out where all the women - or men - are at.

According to DISCOVER, a startup called SceneTap is working with night spots to mount facial recognition cameras "at the doors of clubs, [and the] cameras will survey the crowd and, using facial recognition software, report the ratio of men to women to a free smartphone app."

Such an app would prove tremendously helpful for many of those who attend technology conferences.
