Today in 1968 Intel was founded by Gordon Moore and Robert Noyce. What was the company's original name?

Answer: NM Electronics.

NM Electronics became Intel a year after its founding once the owners were able to purchase the rights to the name Intel from a hotel chain. And Intel is not short for "intelligence." Rather, it is a portmanteau of the words "integrated" and "electronics."
