What have researchers at the University of Florida created to treat the Hepatitis C virus?

July 25, 2012 By

Answer: Nanorobots

According to the University of Florida, these newly created tiny particles can be programmed to shut down the genetic production line that cranks out disease-related proteins. In lab tests, the “nanorobots” all but eradicated hepatitis C virus infection. The programmable nature of the particle makes it potentially useful against diseases such as cancer and other viral infections.

Wow... Cool! A lot of upside to this. Perhaps they can use this in the fight against cancer at some point? Let's hope it doesn't have to sit with the FDA in testing for 25 years first, like every other drug.

I'll really be impressed when my HMO says they'll cover this.
