NASCIO announced this morning that one of its members, Missouri Deputy CIO Bill Bott, was recently named one of nine government leaders to win Governing magazine's Public Officials of the Year award.
"I am pleased that Bill has received this prestigious recognition," said Missouri CIO Dan Ross. "Through his leadership in the information technology strategic planning and business process improvement process, Bill has been the architect of much of the success of Missouri's IT consolidation. In addition, his cultivation of and focus on the relationship with our customers has been instrumental in meeting and exceeding their expectations."
In his two years with the state of Missouri, Bott has made extensive progress in implementing massive changes in the state's IT systems and resources. Bott led the development of a strategic plan and a design of the new organizational structure plus with his experience in marketing, he was successful at selling the plan to the Legislature and state employees, said NASCIO in a release. He has integrated the technology of 14 agencies, saving Missouri $6 million from their overall budget.
"This recognition is the result of the entire consolidation picture focused on one individual," said Bott. "I am humbled to represent the leadership and technical teams that make up our consolidation ..."
