The European Commission's guidelines for migration to the use of Open Source Software, developed by
netproject were published Oct. 17, and are online on the
European Commission's "Interchange of Data between Administrations" (IDA) Web site.
"The IDA Open Source Migration Guidelines," says a note on the site, "provide practical and detailed recommendations on how to migrate to Open Source Software (OSS)-based office applications, calendaring, e-mail and other standard applications.
"They have been developed with guidance from public sector IT experts from Denmark, Finland, Italy, Germany, Malta, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, and Turkey."
