It’s remarkable how quickly social media has changed the world. But will platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Foursquare and YouTube truly change how government operates and interacts with citizens? Surprisingly not all CIOs are in lockstep about social media’s value within the government enterprise or for communication with constituents. Government Technology recently asked CIOs to share their thoughts about social media. Here’s what they said.

The question is can social media be used to efficiently access and deliver government services? If apps like FaceBook just become another email like channel then where's the value add?
