Bill Schrier, Seattle’s chief technology officer and director of the Department of Information Technology, has been elected president of the Metropolitan Information Exchange (MIX) for the coming year. MIX is a national organization of chief information officers and key technology executives of city and county governments with populations over 100,000. Schrier also chairs the King County Regional Communications Board and the Puget Sound Regional Interoperability Executive Committee.

Schrier has served as Seattle’s chief technology officer (CTO) since 2003.

In spare moments, he also writes a Digital Communities blog about the intersection of information technology and government - how they sometimes collide but often influence and change each other. It can be found at www.digitalcommunitiesblogs.com/CCIO/.
