November 12, 2007 - The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Urban Challenge program helps create technology to keep soldiers safe. The challenge features autonomous ground vehicles maneuvering in a mock city environment, executing simulated military supply missions. October 30, 2007 - Held in conjunction with the Sacramento, Calif., Regional Citizen Corps Council Annual Disaster Preparedness Conference in October was a disaster drill for Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT), where they practiced their command structure, evacuation, triage and special-needs populations skills during a mock flood and hospital wing collapse.
