This different view of Earth was taken from 15 orbits of the recently launched Suomi NPP satellite. Using the data collected during these 15 orbits, the VIIRS instrument had enough time (and longitude) to gather the pixels for this synthesized view of Earth showing the Arctic, Europe and Asia from 512 miles above the North Pole.
