In late 2007, Dubai Internet City (DIC) - located on the Persian Gulf, 15 miles south of the city center of Dubai, United Arab Emirates - marked its seventh year of operation.
DIC is the Middle East's biggest information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructure. Companies operate without restrictions in DIC because it's a free-trade zone, which has led many global IT firms to locate their regional bases and resources there.
DIC now features an international community of technology companies including Microsoft, Cisco Systems Inc., IBM, HP, Dell, Sun Microsystems, PeopleSoft and Sony Ericsson.
