"What you are talking about sounds great, but it's not recoverable in any kind of economical fashion," said subcommittee member Larry Pritchard, who was in favor of the idea but concerned with the complexity of execution.
Some workers use personal phones to send messages during City Council meetings, and the costs of retrieving and archiving messages from various providers presents financial and technical challenges. City officials also are considering how to deal with public use versus private use of text messaging. The subcommittee will bring the issue before the full Ethics Commission at City Hall at 11 a.m. Eastern today.
