Washington Gov. Chris Gregoire named Jim Albert as the interim director for the Department of Information Services (DIS), effective January 1, 2009. Albert, who served as the deputy director of DIS for the last four years, fills the vacancy left by current director, Gary Robinson while a search is conducted for a permanent replacement. Robinson is retiring from state service at the end of December.

In addition to the Department of Information Services, Albert has held positions in various state agencies, including the Office of the Attorney General, the Office of Financial Management and Washington State University.
