John McDonald Appointed Virginia's Deputy Secretary of Technology

Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine today announced the appointment of John McDonald as deputy secretary in the Office of the Secretary of Technology. McDonald is currently the director of contact center strategy and technology for Genworth Financial Corp. He has previously worked as a senior IT manager for Capital One Financial Corp., a technical account manager for Microsoft, and a staff sergeant in the United States Army Reserve, according to a release from the Governor's Office.

McDonald currently serves as an advisor to the governor on the Virginia Research & Technology Advisory Commission and served as an advisor to the General Assembly on the Joint Commission on Technology & Science during last year's legislative session.

McDonald holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and history from The Colorado College and a Master of Science degree in the management of information technology from The University of Virginia.
