February 2, 2012 By

Government Technology is starting a new feature that will share polling results from the GovTech Exchange, a new online community for state and local government IT professionals.

Seventy-six respondents answered the following quick poll: How would you rate your organization’s ability to hire and retain qualified IT personnel?

• 11 percent said “excellent”;

• 37 percent said “good”;

• 33 percent said “fair”; and

• 18 percent said “poor”

This convenience sample, with no associated margin of error, occurred from Jan. 19 through Feb. 2.

It might be useful information to seperate the data into Federal, State, and local jurisdictions. There appears to be different cultures and HR practices in play at the various governmental levels. Just a thought. Thank you.

Tom,you make a good point and it's worth investigating further. This poll was of the "rapid response" variety -- a single question that took only a few seconds to finish.
