Wisconsin Governor Signs Tech-Related Bills Into Law

Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle yesterday signed the following tech-related bills into law:

  • Senate Bill 393 requires disclosure of certain information found during background checks for personal care workers. The bill also mandates that background checks for caregivers be conducted every four years.
  • Senate Bill 69 prohibits disclosure of information obtained by a tax preparer in the course of preparing a client's tax return, unless the client provides written consent.
  • Assembly Bill 597 prohibits tampering or interfering with a signal transmitted by a global positioning system issued by the Department of Corrections to monitor movement of a sex offender.
