Wet Suit

The water-resistant design and protective materials of the Wet Circuits power strip allow for continued indoor/outdoor use and protection against rain, snow or an accidental coffee spill. The unit’s smart fuse and circuit breaker sense excess overheating (231-249 degrees Fahrenheit) and discontinue any electric charge to prevent fires. Sticking foreign objects in the outlet won’t cause electric shock, thanks to the “Touch Protection” feature. Electric power is only conducted when a proper plug is completely inserted into the outlet. www.wetcircuits.com

On the Scene

The Arecont Vision AV10015 10 megapixel camera is one-third the size and half the weight of the company’s previous model. The camera provides 3,648x2,752-pixel (10 megapixel) images at 7 frames per second (fps) and 1,920x1,080-pixel (1080p) at 30 fps. The units are powered via power over Ethernet to eliminate the need for localized power supplies. The binning mode in the day/night version of the camera offers increased sensitivity and better low-light performance. www.arecontvision.com

Apple Core

Apple’s latest all-in-one iMac features quad-core Intel Core i5 processors with an option of Core i7 processors up to 3.4 GHz. The iMac is available in 21.5-inch and 27-inch models. The computers are equipped with 500 GB or 1 TB hard drives, with the option of additional hard drive capacity up to 2 TB or a 256 GB solid state drive, as well as additional DDR3 memory. The built-in FaceTime HD camera supports high-definition video calls between all FaceTime HD-enabled Macs and standard resolution calls with other Apple products. www.apple.com
