Field Work

The Trimble Juno 3D handheld is a GNSS device built for GIS field applications, such as asset management, data collection and inspections. It has an integrated GPS, a 5 megapixel autofocus camera and Windows Mobile software, plus 3G wireless technology, which allows users to transfer data faster and stay connected to the office with an integrated mobile phone. The Juno has an IP54 rating, which means it’s resistant to dust, water and shock.

Tablet Thrills

Toshiba’s Excite 10 LE 10.1-inch tablet measures 0.3 inches thick and weighs 1.18 pounds. It’s powered by Android and is available in a 16 GB and 32 GB model. The Excite includes micro-USB and HDMI ports, a micro-SD slot to share content and files with other devices, plus Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. Front and back high-definition cameras provide convenient photo capture, plus 1080p video recording and video chatting. The tablet features Android 3.2 (Honeycomb) and will be upgraded to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) later this spring.

Canon U.S.A. introduces the XU-80 remote control pan-tilt-zoom HD Camera, a compact, integrated camera system with fast pan-and-tilt action, and a waterproof and dustproof design that makes it suited for outdoor or indoor use. The camera features a pan range of 180 degrees and a tilt range of 220 to -40 degrees. The system incorporates a CMOS HD 2.1 megapixel imaging sensor, a 20x HD zoom lens (with additional 12x digital zoom) for superb telephoto performance, and broadcast-grade features such as genlock input for synchronization and HD-SDI output in a small design. The XU-80 can be mounted upright or in an inverted ceiling mount.
