Send a Hologram to Do Your Work

A hologram of Dr. Hugh Bradlow (R) onstage in Adelaide.

Australian telecommunications firm Telstra beamed a hologram of its Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Hugh Bradlow, live into Adelaide from Melbourne to speak at a meeting and interact with participants. Bradlow addressed and interacted with the audience for around 15 minutes and conducted a real-time media conference following the function.

"We've all seen this sort of thing in futuristic sci-fi movies," said Telstra's David Thodey "but the reality is that it can be done here and now, as we have just demonstrated."

The hologram was delivered over Telstra's high-speed network using the Musion Eyeliner System, a high definition holographic video projection system that allows three-dimensional moving images to appear within a live stage setting.
